Who doesn’t have a few favorite summer chic lit titles up their sleeve? Honestly – time for a truth bomb Y’all!
Let’s celebrate those fabulous, mindless, fun and flirty summer books with my favorite summer chic lit titles for 2018. I know it is almost September and many of you are in full blown back to school mode, but now that I’m a southern gal, I’m hanging on to summer! I intend to be floating in the pool reading silly summer books until the goosebumps cannot be contained any longer 🙂

A couple of years ago I posted about my favorite summer pool and beach reads and I figured it was time to revisit the topic. You already know about all the non-fiction fun I’ve been having at the pool, but I have to be completely honest. There are a few summer chic lit numbers I’d like to share.
Let me take a moment to define what “summer chic lit” means to me.
First, the story must be light. Like, I don’t want to think about it when I’m not in the pool. There shouldn’t be huge controversy or anything educational about it. Seriously, I LOVED Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly, but it was definitely not one to read by the pool.
Second, there must be a happy ending. Once again, LOVED Me Before You but there will be no crying in my pool. Being in the sun is a happy time. It should not be tainted by ill feelings or tears streaked with sand and certainly not assisted suicide!
Lastly, there must be some romance. Need I say more? Sunshine just screams for love and romance. I admit some of my favorite chic lit for summer is a little steamy. What good is the sun if there isn’t a little heat, right?
Without further ado, my personal favorite summer chic lit for 2018…
(in no particular order)
Once in a Blue Moon Lodge – by Lorna Lanvik
I adore Lorna Lanvik – Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons is one of my all-time favorite fun reads. She is just so creative and funny, and real. Blue Moon Lodge will not disappoint! Plus there is the added Minnesota / Norway connection in this one that makes it extra fun. 🙂
The Singles Game – by Lauren Weisberger
I just finished listening to this one. Sometimes I like to float in the pool with my earbuds and just get lost in a story. This is a fun one about Charlotte, a tennis pro who is trying to win a Grand Slam. It is filled with quirky characters, a bitchy nemesis, and an ultimately sweet story.
Surprise Me – by Sophia Kinsella
I loved this one. A cute story of a married couple who starts to think about what being married for another 65 years might be like. Chaos ensues. Surprises abound. And the learning about one another continues for this cute couple.
The Book of Polly – by Kathy Hepinstall
I have to admit, this one does stray a bit from my guidelines, but I really want to include it. The Book of Polly is a wonderful, funny, and heartwarming story of a mother and daughter. There is craziness, adventure, and sorrow for all of these special characters. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
My Not So Perfect Life – Sophie Kinsella
There is a theme here! I have enjoyed every single one of Sophie Kinsella’s books. She is witty, creative, and her stories always have a sweet ending. This one is particularly funny! Katie is really working hard to create an Instagram worthy life for herself – and yet. This story is too much fun to give any of it away.
One last thing. Often times I listen to books using Audible.com. I absolutely LOVE my membership. What I really like about listening to books on tape is the incredible narrators that Audible has. These people are so incredibly talented. They can make characters come to life. In fact, often times I am so lost in the book that I am able to tell which character is speaking or thinking or whatever, just by the narrator’s voice. Ah.mazing!
