With Valentines Day right around the corner, I thought to myself, how can I create a DIY Baby Valentine to send to favorite Pixie?
Off to Hobby Lobby for some inspiration…
Favorite Pixie is all of 9 months old this Valentine’s Day. She is crawling and just started pulling herself up on furniture! I can’t believe it!
Being that she is still just a baby, the traditional cute card, chocolates, and candy was just not going to interest her right now and I began to wonder what would?
And then it came to me. I’m the Nana. I do not have to send her something practical that will last and she will enjoy until the end of time. I can send her momentary fun!
So I designed Favorite Pixie a very special DIY Baby Valentine. And you can too!
She is 9 months. She likes to touch things, put them in her mouth, push them around etc. She likes things that are colorful, like her mobile. I like things that are sparkly and shiny and just plain fun. I think we can work with that.
I spent some time at Hobby Lobby and found the really cute mailbox and decided that I could fill that with exciting things for Valentine’s Day. My entire goal here is for this to be fun for her to open. That she will enjoy the colors, the textures, the opening and closing of the mailbox and so on.
I grabbed the hearts and stickers to decorate the mailbox to give it a little oomph and pizzazz. I also picked up some fun hair barrettes that looked like they were soft enough to put in her lack of hair 🙂 , a darling little truck that is shaped like a toy ball that she really loves, and the adorable red polka dot sunglasses – just because I’m the Nana.
And of course a little Valentine puppy!
First thing I did was to use the leftover glitter paint from the Olympic tray set project. I painted the mailbox thoroughly and let it dry. I also painted the flag with a white pearl paint.
Using some super glue, I attached her Initial to the front of the mailbox. I love that we share the same initial. Paula | Pixie. Nana | N…. 🙂
I added the felt heart stickers to the box and the flag – it is Valentine’s day after all.
I also bought a couple of glitter XOXO stickers and added them to the outside of the box. My hope is that when Favorite Navy Wife takes this out of the box, the whole thing will attract Favorite Pixie’s attention for a bit.
Next, I started to fill this DIY Baby Valentine with the fun stuff. I bought these colorful glittery pom poms. They are just the right size to fit in her hand. They are soft and sparkly and not chokable – very important for a Baby Valentine.
Then I put the rest of the excitement into the box for Favorite Pixie to discover. I think she will have fun opening and closing the mailbox. Maybe even hiding her puppy in there, who knows?
The important thing is that this will be a fun event for her. A special DIY Baby Valentine just for her from Nana and Big Jon. Even if it only lasts a moment.
Because that is what life is about, right?
Moments. Memories. Family.
You, too, can create a fun Baby Valentine. Just fill it with whatever your Warrior or Pixie would enjoy. Love and cherish the moments even at a distance.
Love you, Favorite Pixie!
