Who is Paula Tisch? How much do you really know about the person on the other side of this screen? What kind of truth are we getting from the internet?
Does her house really look THAT good? How long did it take her to get her hair to do that before she started taping that fun story? These are serious questions that I wonder about as I am scrolling through Instagram and Pinterest.
What is the real truth behind you and your blog?

This world of social media has changed us. All this exposure, authentic vulnerability and constant sharing of pictures and information got me to wonder. Who are you, people? Who are you, blogger that I follow? Who are you, Instagrammer with the beautiful pictures?
All this wondering and questioning and, I admit, a bit of comparing, has spurred me to start a new blog series. It’s time to start digging into the truth that is hiding behind the laptop to find out exactly who we are following. In all fairness, there is no better place to start than a little Q & A with the author of PaulaTisch.com.
Yup. That’d be me. Who is Paula Tisch?

Tell me a little about yourself? Who is Paula Tisch?
Well, I was born and raised in Minnesota, near the Twin Cities. I have one sister, Big K, who is my forever friend. We have had an interesting life, multiple divorces for both parents, an alcoholic mom, dad who died very young (I was twenty), absolutely wonderful bonus parents, even more fabulous grandparents, I could go on. But the truth is, we all have stuff.
Even with all that baggage, I managed to snag a great husband, Big Jon, and am now Mama to four grown sons (affectionately referred to as the Warriors). I have two of the most amazing daughters-in-law and one beautiful granddaughter – so far!
We have moved around a bit with Big Jon’s job so we have lived in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, back to Minnesota, back to Wisconsin, Missouri and now Alabama. Life is never dull and I love the adventure.
What did you want to grow up to be when you were little?
I wanted to be a detective like Ellery Queen or Miss Marple. When I was in high school and I learned that I enjoyed writing, I wanted to be an investigative reporter. Ultimately I became a mother who happened to be a ___________ (whatever worked in our schedule at the time).
What is your favorite food?
This is tough. As you may know, I’m currently sort-of wheat free. What that really means in my daily life is that I try to stay away from wheat as much as possible. And I’m also trying to lose a little weight so I’m following the #noom plan.
What I find most interesting about changing your eating habits is that flavors are enhanced. So a salad that used to taste like grass, is now delicious. 🙂
That being said, I think my favorite food is peanut butter cookies!
Coffee? Tea? or Wine?
Wine. Cabernet Sauvignon to be precise. My favorite currently is Josh Cab. If not wine, I totally love a cup of tea.
When did you start blogging?
I started blogging almost four years ago. I really felt that God was calling me to write and share my experiences and so I dove in completely blind. I knew nothing about blogs, or coding, or analytics at all. So I pretty much just started to write about whatever was on my heart.
Do you read? What is your favorite book?
I love to read! I also love to write about my reading here on the blog. Most recently I reviewed a few non-fiction books I’ve been reading this summer.
I think my favorite book of all time is The Hawk and the Dove by Penelope Wilcock.
What is your big and scary goal?
I would like to do a Tough Mudder some day. I am so far from being a tiny bit in shape, but it is definitely a big, scary goal!
What is your favorite thing about being a mom?
Tough question… The best part of being a mom is watching the little people you have loved and nurtured for years grow into responsible adults with their own moral compass. I love watching the Warriors develop into loving and kind men.
What is your favorite thing about blogging?
My favorite thing about blogging is my audience. I know that sound corny, but it’s true. My whole goal in writing is to encourage you in your faith, support you in your family, and inspire you in your home. I love when I hear from readers that something I wrote helped them in some way.
What is the furthest away from home you have traveled?
When I was in college I spent a summer traveling in Europe with a friend. Wow, what a trip! I think the furthest location was probably the Greek Islands.
Unsweetened Ice Tea or Sweet Tea?
Until I moved to Alabama, I did not really know what Sweet Tea was! In the midwest, everyone gets unsweetened and you sweeten it yourself if you like.
Dream concert or Celebrity crush?
Currently, my dream concert is Bruno Mars. I mean, right? What an incredible artist! Also on the list would be Dan & Shay, Luke Combs, and Bette Midler. 🙂
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
Yes. Just a quick shout out and thank you to Y’all. You really make everything so worthwhile! Oh, and stay tuned for future additions to the Behind the Blog Series.
